Welcome to Phlegar Hill
Playing both new and old country, Southern Rock, 80's Rock, Phlegar Hill will make sure you will have a great time!
While the band is always busy performing at Festivals, Wineries, and Private Parties across Southwest Virginia, they always make time to continue to fine tune their foot tappin' show. They appear in dozens of Clubs and venues large and small each year and thrive at the response of a rowdy, excited live audience!

About Us
Bill Williams
Bill Williams (Lead Vocal) began his journey into music singing in a number of well established Heavy Metal Bands.
He also formed a number acoustic duo’s and formed acclaimed local act ‘Downtown Diversion’. When not on stage, he is often found in the studio recording with local music luminaries.
Bill is one of the founding members of Phlegar Hill, where his powerful vocals showcase his love of Gospel, Soul and good ole Rock and Roll!
Mike Estes
Mike Estes (Guitar) learned to play the guitar at an early age. Growing up in Southwest Virginia in the late 70's and early 80's, he was influenced by the southern rock and blues of the time. He played with several local bands during the late 70's bar scene. With a love for swampy blues, Mike is back into the music scene following a 25 year hiatus.

Craig Counts
BB King’s appearances on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson had a life changing effect on Craig at a very early age. Other blues artists and rock from the 60s and 70s helped shape the Lebanon Virginia native and led him to found Electric Woodshed in Blacksburg in 1987. Bringing his guitar, slide, and some vocals he’s now the newest member and excited to add his part to the Phlegar Hill sound.
Stixx Anders
Stixx (Drums) started his drumming career hitting on pots and pans as a small child and it was his Father that recognized his blossoming talents! He got his first drum set at age 4 and by his teens was playing in well established bands in South Florida. After graduating school, Stixx went on the road in Florida, Georgia and the Carolina’s before settling down in Virginia in 1989.
As well as serving as Phlegar Hill’s drummer extraordinaire, he is the house drummer for Final Track Studios in Roanoke, working with local production legend Skip Brown.
Drumming has been his blood since an early age and will be with him for ever more!
Derek Fondren
Born and raised on the South-side of Chicago, Derek started playing bass in the 80’s and quickly embraced the hair metal/ hard rock scene. His influences encompass many styles of music, from the rock of the 60’s and 70’s, to Blues and Blues Rock, Heavy Metal and Thrash, to Southern Rock and Outlaw Country. Unable to find the “right” group of musicians to play after relocating from Chicago, Derek was ready to either call it quits from music, or return back home to the Midwest.
